AHS Students Made Outstanding Achievements in the 2nd “Yanyuan Cup” Historical Writing Contest

In accordance with our national strategy of rejuvenating China’s traditional culture and upgrading youth’s quality and attainment in history and culture, the 2nd “Yanyuan Cup” National Middle Students’ Historical Writing Contest concluded in December, 2018. Under the academic instructions of Department of History, Peking University, Department of History, Fudan University, School of History, Nankai University and College of History and Culture, Northeast normal University, the contest was intended to evoke students’ interest in discovering history around them and exploring the historical truth via encouraging them to get involved in historical writing and explore their families’ past events and memories, train them to initially master the approaches to undertake historical research as well as the rules and skills of historical writing, and nurture the fundamental ability of historical writing.

Due to its excellent work of organization and facilitation, AHS was granted “Excellent Organizer’s Award” and Meng Wei was acknowledged with “Outstanding Facilitator Award”. All together 22 students won prizes, among whom Zhou Bishan won National 1st Prize, Zhou Xinru and Gong Zihua National 2nd Prize, 3 students gained Shandong Provincial 1st Prize, 3 students Shandong Provincial 2nd Prize, 5 students Shandong Provincial 3rd Prize and 8 students were endowed with Shandong Provincial Outstanding Achievement Prize.

High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) has always been following its educational philosophy of “putting students first and achieving their comprehensive development” and committing itself to nurturing students with the qualities of seeking for kindness, truth and innovation. AHS Department of History Teaching has insisted on historical writing teaching, instructing students to write out the historical stories around them under the guidance of the materialist conception of history and strengthening students’ sense of identity and responsibility towards families, schools, communities and homeland.
