From September 29 to 30 AHS 2017 Autumn Sports Meet was held in Xingfuliu schoolyard in view of strengthening students’ physical fitness, promoting the popularity and development of campus sports and displaying the spirits and comprehensive qualities of teachers and students of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS). Present at the sports meet were Wang Yuzhang, AHS Principal, Tan Yinghai, General Secretary of AHS CPC Committee, Chen Dehai, Liu Congju, Zhang Xianchen, three AHS Vice Principals, those directors of the school’s departments and all teachers and students.

Hosted by Wang Xigang, Director of AHS Department of Sports, Healthcare and Arts, the opening ceremony started with an opening speech addressed by Liu Congjun, AHS Vice Principal. In his speech Liu pointed that the sports meet should closely follow its tenet of safety, unity and culture to assure a smooth and safe performance and also function as a stage to display the collective cohesion of AHS students, their personal qualities of being civilized and well-disciplined and the high spirits of every class as well as every grade. He expressed his hope that athletes should well carry forward the spirit of perseverance and tenacity and fully demonstrate their athletic capacity, their nice morals and manners, their personality and their teamwork. Liu also expected new breakthroughs to be achieved in the event. The athlete representative also addressed a speech, taking an oath that athletes shall take the matches and their competitors seriously, strive to be the best and be humble in victory and gracious in defeat and do credit to the school and classes by competing fairly and elegantly.

The opening ceremony witnessed the grand performances presented by AHS Aerobic Team and AHS Martial Arts Team, which brightened the eyes of the audience. The sports meet attracted over 1,000 athletes from 52 classes to attend the competitions, who competed for credit to their group and classes and well displayed their enthusiasm as well as their passion. In the closing ceremony was staged the splendid military boxing show. After the one-and-a -half-day competitions the sports meet came to a successful end.

Hosted by Wang Bin, Director of AHS Education and Teaching Affairs Department, the closing ceremony ended up with a closing speech given by Zhang Xianchen, AHS Vice Prinpal after Chen Dehai, AHS Vice Principal, announced the competition results of various events. In Zhang’s speech, he stated that the sports meet well displayed the positive and aggressive spirit of AHS teachers and students and the enthusiasm of students to compete to their full and strive for the best. He further stated his hope that teachers and students carry forward this spirit of teamwork, perseverance and aggressiveness and make new achievements.
