Recently the 20^th“Chinese Linguistic Newspaper Cup”Writing Contest (for senior 3 students), concluded. Students from High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) displayed outstanding performance and made new achievements in the contest, among whom Zhang Yunlong, Zhao Boding and Li Yunyang won nation-level prizes and Yang Zhenyi and the other 12 students were awarded province-level prizes. Zhou Xixi and the other 9 AHS teachers were honored as Outstanding Instructor.

In recent years AHS students have made outstanding achievements in writing contests of all kinds, a considerable number of whom have obtained the qualification for attending the independent recruitment as well as the comprehensive evaluation enrollment of top universities due to their performance in writing contest. AHS Chinese Language Teaching Department has always been attaching importance to cultivating students’ competence of applying Chinese language to experience life via organizingteaching subject research and enriched activities. The Research Center for Developing Creative Writing Courses shall be founded respectively in the two schoolyards of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University. It is intended to instruct students to undertake after-class reading, stick to combining writing with reading and express their true life experiences as well as their specific life feelings. Also it functions to discover and nurture a considerable number of students with writing talent in the meantime of upgrading the writing ability of all students as a whole.

The “Chinese Linguistic Newspaper Cup” Writing Contest, hosted by Students’ Affairs Department of Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China and Chinese Linguistic Newspaper in combination with other social units, functions as a top contest intended for the high school students nationwide. This annual contest has been attended so far by over 10 million students, thus exerting the wide and profound influence and attracting the keen attention of those top universities, some of which have expressed their will to give priority to those prize winners in their independent recruitment.
