A delegation of Salisbury School, Connecticut, US paid a three-day visit to High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) from April 12 to 14. A welcome ceremony was held in the meeting hall of the downtown schoolyard of AHS to greet the delegation including 17 members of teachers and students. Wang Yuzhang, AHS Principal, Tan Yinghai, General Secretary of AHS CPC Committee and Vice Principal, Liu Congjun, Vice AHS Principal And Yang Renyong, Director of AHS Administrative Office attended the ceremony.

Wang Yuzhang addressed a speech in the welcome ceremony. Expressing his warm welcome to friends coming afar, Wang Yuzhan then presented a brief introduction of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University. As Wang mentioned, it has been 10 years since AHS established the sisterhood relationship with Salisbury School in 2007. These 10 years has witnessed frequent exchanges and communications, which have played a positive role in deepening the mutual understanding between the two schools and strengthening the cultural communication and cooperation between the two nations. In the end Wang wished the delegation to make good use of the 3-day visit to fully experience the local customs and practices and make the trip an unforgettable memory. Amy Watts, Leader of the delegation, expressed in her speech that the cultural communication between the two schools was of great significance in promoting the Chinese language teaching in Salisbury School. She expected the friendship with the Chinese sister school would last long. The student representatives of the two schools respectively addressed a speech, after which the two schools exchanged the presents.

During the 3-day visit AHS arranged colorful activities for the guests, who visited the downtown schoolyard, the gym, the Psychic Consulting Office and the AHS History Room and attended the Chinese classes to experience an educational style and philosophy different from western society. During their stay, 9 AHS student families provided accommodation for the guests as well as the chances for them to contact and understand Chinese society more deeply and vividly.

Through the exchanges with those foreign guests from our sisterhood school, AHS students have greatly improved their ability of inter-cultural communication and enlarged their international view. With its teaching quality and reputation increasingly upgraded, AHS has been attracting more and more international equivalents to pay visits to and the mutual exchanges and communications not only increase the mutual friendship but also promote the internationalization of the school.
