The 1st Model UN Conference was successfully held by the AHS Society of Model UN in the Automatic recording classroom on December 31st, 2012. Zhuang Zengchen, vice-secretary of the Youth League Committee and vice-dean of the Discipline Department, and teachers from the politics department, Lin Lin, Niu Lihua, Wang Xiuping, together with 30 members attended the meeting.

The topic discussed in the conference is the issue of recent satellite launching of DPRK. Representatives, representing China, Japan, DPRK, USA, Korea, Russia, France, Iran, Cuba, Swiss, UK, meticulously prepared for the conference according to the document of background of the topic edited by the presidium.Cao Jing, student from Class 1, Grade 2 and chairman of the conference, hosted the meeting. The conference is composed by such procedures as appointment, affirmation of speech list, formal debate, informal debate and negotiation, formation of draft resolution and voting. Representatives masterly used diplomatic language, positively put forward statement and motion, and passionately argued, representing points of view of representative countries. Owing to the non-coincidence of opinions, draft resolution put forward by China and USA was not passed at last. The diplomatic temperament, abundant knowledge, rigorous analysis and intelligent tact demonstrated the superb vision and capability of students from AHS.

After the conference, the directing teacher Lin Lin analyzed and concluded the significance of “global mind, leader temperament”, the aim of the AHS Student Society of Model UN, and announced the list of Excellent Representatives: Wang Yandun, Liu Zhaoge, Xu Helin, Yang Huanchen, Fang Zhenzhuo. The Youth League Committee Secretary Zhuang spoke highly of performance of representatives, and expected a better and stronger Model UN Conference by the Student Society, making it a platform for broadening horizon and improving comprehensive qualities. The Society leads students to pay attention to social focus by attending and comprehending it. Activities held by society will become another achievement in campus culture on our way to constructing attached high school with features of university.
