On December 11, 2011, 2012 New Year Concert was staged in Xingfuliu Branch School of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS). Party Secretary Tan Yinghai, Vice Headmaster Liu Congjun, Dean of Moral Education Office Wang Xigang and other school leaders attended the ceremony together with over 900 teachers and students. Teachers, students, administrative personnel and workers gathered in splendid symphony, welcoming the arrival of a new year and expressing their best wishes.

Directed by Mr. Sun, the Symphony Orchestra of AHS commenced the new year concert with an impassioned melody of Ode to Red Flog. Verses of Chinese classic tunes, mild or lively, brought winds of intense “Chinese flavor”, displaying the beauty of oriental elegance and gentleness; while western melodies diffuses a foreign sense of spectacular and passion. Audience was introduced into an art world of grace.

The Symphony Orchestra of AHS ranks among a limited number of high-school amateur orchestras in Shandong Province and has been playing an active role since its founding in 1999. The Orchestra has attended series of art exchange activities held in Korea, Germany, Hong Kong and other places as a representative of high schools in Shandong Province. Frequently staging performances within Shandong Province, the Orchestra has won the 1st Prize of the 3rd Shandong Art Exhibit, the 1st Prize of the 11th Jinan Art Exhibit and many other honors.

As one of the activities organized by AHS for “Introducing Art into School”, 2012 New Year Concert, taking music as a carrier and aiming to upgrading students’ understanding and appreciation on graceful art, broadened the cultural vision of teachers and students, improving teachers’ and students’ taste of feeling outstanding civilization, enriching their life in school and playing an active as well as important part in accomplishing students’ comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, health and aestheticism.
