On the morning of November 3, 2011, High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) celebrated the founding of its Parents Committee and commenced the first session. School-level leaders Wang Yuzhang, Chen Dehai, Liu Congjun and Zhang Xianchen, deans of school departments Li Suhan, Wang Xigang, Liu Minghui, Wang Bin and Wang Fangming, and 12 parent representatives attended the ceremony. Vice Headmaster Chen Dehai hosted the meeting.

Over the founding ceremony Party Secretary Tan Yinghai publicized membership list of Parents Committee. Among the 13 members made up of 12 parents and Dean of Moral Education Office Wang Xigang whose daughter was once a student in AHS, CPC members, members of democratic parties and civilians without party affiliation respectively covered a due percentage. In light ofThe Arrangement and Management of Parents Committee of Primaryand Middle Schools of Shandong Province (Tentative)andSuggestions on Founding and Managing Parents Committee of Primary and Middle Schools Issued by Jinan Department of Education, Vice Headmaster Chen Dehai made further illustrations, clarifying that Parents Committee functions as an organization involving volunteer parents into the school’s education and democratic management, combining obligations and rights of parents for self-governance, and instructing parents in family education. Parents Committee was founded among more than 10,000 parents of AHS’s students through levels of democratic recommendation. Best representing all those parents, Parents Committee will provide vigorous support to the school’s education.

During the meeting, committee members voted Zhou Yong Committee Chairman, Ding Guanyong and Gao Changming Vice Chairman and Wang Xigang Secretary General. Vice Headmaster Wang Yuzhang issued the employment certificate to committee members. Wang Xigang read outArticles of AHS Parents Committee, clarifying the committee principles and the obligations and rights of membership.

Committee Chairman Zhou Yong gave his inauguration speech, expressing his thanks to the school for building up such a platform for parents-school coordination and declaring his commitment to best fulfill membership obligations and duties, submit to the school parents’ ideas and suggestions in time, and coordinate with other committee members to create better conditions for students’ growth..

Listening to the speech of committee members, Vice Headmaster Wang Yuzhang expressed the school’s appreciation for Parents Committee’s support, introduced AHS’s current situations and elaborated the school’s development plan, and stated his advice on Parents’ Committee’s work. Wang offered committee members his sincere invitation to contribute ideas and exert efforts for providing students a healthful, pleasant, warm and harmonious environment and accomplishing students’ scientific, long-term and quality development.

Vice Headmaster Chen Dehai introduced the general work plan of the year 2012, pointing out that AHS, under the instruction ofNational Guidelines for Medium-to-Long-Term Education Reform and Development Plan (2010-2020)andGuidelines for Medium-to-Long-Term Education Reform and Development Plan of Shandong Province (2011-2020), will consummate the system and mechanism of Parents Committee, innovate its work approaches, and constantly improve committee members’ initiatives, their work pertinence and efficiency. AHS will further improve the platform for parents-school exchange and communication, ensure the “green passage” for parents to get engaged into the school’s education, and make efforts to best run parents school and well conduct parents’ training to enable them to fully apply their advantages and support the education in an all-around way. Parents Committee carried out a discussion and would carry out their work plan as designated.

Aimed to motivate each parent’s initiative and creativity, guide their focus, support and enthusiasm on education, and enable parents to fully function in family and school education, Parents’ Committee will promote the close cooperation between family and school education, foster concerted efforts, and construct and improve an educational system orderly integrating the school, families and society, thus in essence achieving the sound growth of high-school students and their progress in study.
