Over 10 students from High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) were rewarded prizes, 6 of them qualified to attend the final (Jinan District), in the semi-final of “The 21^stCentury Cup” English Speech Contest (Jinan District) held in Shandong University on January 1.

“The 21^stCentury Cup” English Speech Contest is a competition of the overall qualities of high school students, hosted by China Daily and organized by the 21^stEnglish Education Media. In the contest contestants will be evaluated and scored in terms of their performance, pronunciation, linguistic fluency and other factors and accordingly awarded prizes of different levels. Getting through the preliminary contest (Jinan district), 33 contestants from AHS were qualified into the semi-final. To ensure students’ better performance, AHS English teachers actively engaged and provided timely instructions as well as individual coaching for them. Meanwhile a warm-up match had been organized for each contestant to practice.

Now enough preparations are being made among AHS contestants in the hope of better performances to be displayed in the final.
