Hosted by Children and Youth Science Center of China Association of Science and Technology (CAST), and Computer Committee of Young Talent Program, the Young Talent Computer Subject Achievements Exhibition (YTCSAE) was held in Beihang University. As one of the two representatives from Shandong Province, Sun Guangyu, a student of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS), took part in the exhibition and gave a speech under the title “Research on the Root and Practical Solution to the Problem of the Website www. 12306.cn”.

The speech given by Sun Guangyu was praised by the experts present at the display. What is worth mentioning is that Foreign Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, who is also Dean of Institute for Interdisplinary Information Sciences of Tsinghua University and Chief of Computer Committee of Young Talent Program made a comment on the scene.

Meanwhile, the host also arranged for 17 students of computer subject of the Young Talent Program, who had been selected nationwide, to have a face-to-face communication with the experts and join in visiting activities. Professor Li Jingtai, Chief of Institute of Robotics and Automatic Information System of Nankai University and Professor Luo Weiying, professor ofSchool of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science of Peking University gave lectures respectively under the title of “Observation and Innovation” and “Thinking on Computer Learning”. The two professors selected communicating topics special for those students and helped the students have a deeper understanding of the idea that innovation comes from the observation of life and that observation is the basis of innovation. They also suggested to the students that they should study basic computer knowledge by themselves, learn more about programming, data structure and arithmetic and strengthen what they had learned. The students also learned about the aeronautical and astronautical development of new China by visiting Beijing Air and Space Museum. While in the National Key Lab of Virtual Reality Technology and System, students watched the imitating opening ceremony of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the aero-engine disassembly procedure, which helped them learn the wide application of virtual technology in medical and military fields.
