On the afternoon of July 23, 65 headmasters of Chinese schools in Europe,AmericaandAustraliapaid a visit to High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS). Du Baoguo, Dean of the School of International Exchange ofShandongNormal University, Wang Yuzhang, Headmaster of AHS, and Miao Heming, Headmaster of the Primary School Attached toShandongNormalUniversity, attended the meeting.

The visiting headmasters came up to the music classroom of AHS, where AHS Symphony Orchestra, also titled High School Symphony Orchestra of Shandong Province, performed for those distinguished guestsReba DanceandThe Song of Yangtze River, winning bursts of applause from them. Learning that AHS Symphony Orchestra will give performances under invitation in Goldener Saal Wiener Musikvereins in August, they invariably showed their warm applauses. Then headmasters visited the intelligent automatic recording and broadcasting classroom, the classroom of General Technology, Physics Laboratory and Mathematics Laboratory, listening to introductions in earnest from teachers in charge and appreciating with interest the works students have made in General Technology class, as well as putting forward a variety of questions which interested them.

After the visit, an informal discussion, chaired by Du Baoguo, was held in the lecture hall of AHS. Wang Yuzhang and Miao Heming respectively presented an introduction of High School Attached toShandongNormalUniversityand the Primary School Attached toShandongNormalUniversity. Wang Yuzhang, Headmaster of AHS, made an overall elaboration to the construction and development of AHS. He mentioned that AHS was renowned for its best-qualified teachers, among whom the number of teachers titled Qilu Teacher of Prestige or Expert Teacher of Shandong Province and teachers qualified as postgraduate facilitators or acquiring the title of Advanced Teacher all ranks the first inShandongProvince. While further upgrading the construction of its standardized facilities as well as its software including teaching resources, teaching means, atmosphere, major settings and other factors, AHS put forward four strategies of personalized development, large-scale development, quality-oriented development and internationalized development. In light of achieving AHS’ s new upgrade, the school will make great improvement in moral education, classroom teaching, cadre group building, logistics and supervision and evaluation system. Miao Heming, Headmaster of the Primary School Attached toShandongNormalUniversity, introduced the basic condition, its educational thought, management structure, cultural construction and other aspects of the primary school.

Before the discussion ended, headmasters, in view of the present situation of education in China and abroad, made further communications with Wang Yuzhang and Miao Heming in setting up optional courses, how to treat elite education, the enrollment expansion, personalized education, optimizing studying method and alleviating students’ academic burden, how to cultivate students’ ability of practice, educational system and other aspects.
