On October 29 Mr. Walter Robinson and Ms. Michele Butler Itinerary, former Admission Officer of University of California, Berkeley paid a visit to the International Department of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS), introducing in detail University of California, Berkeley to the students of AHS International Department and undertaking intense interactions with them.

To begin with, as Mr. Walter presented, University of California consists of 10 state-owned schools, of which 9 set up undergraduate majors and 1 majors in biology and medical science with no undergraduate programs. The target students to be recruited vary from the different locations of all those schools, which, however, with no exception raise high requirements on students’ high school courses as well as their GPA scores and in addition present demands on standard examinations and language tests.

When it came to the academic rank students most concerned about, Ms. Michele said the academic rank didn’t mean everything so students’ concern should not only consist in the admission requirements of universities but also what they want to obtain. Ms. Michele also put forward suggestions on essay writing, like more words and information on themselves, how to make themselves extraordinary in essay writing, which were all points where students should strengthen and exercise themselves. Following Ms. Michele’s speech students presented their questions, which admission officers replied carefully and patiently.
