In the afternoon, February 25, over 20 volunteers from Volunteers Association of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) came to Daming Lake and attended the activity “Leave No Trace Environmental Education (LNT)” organized by Ji’nan Municipal Propaganda and Education Center for Environmental Protection.

Volunteers were divided into 2 groups, respectively in charge of safety guarantee and environmental management. Each group, following the group leader responsibility system, set up positions for a safety officer and an officer for environmental protection. The trip started from the Mingchang Bell Tower Relics Square with a history of nearly 800 years, with a guide teacher introducing in sequence Daming Lake Tablet “日月明”, Wild Duck Island in the south gate of ancient Ji’nan city relics, the well-known story of night heron catching the red snapper, the Kuixu Library standing in the quiet Xia Garden as well as the unforgettable history of Shandong Library. Listening to the interesting history and observing those plants like ailanthus, wintersweet and jasminum nudiflorum, students felt in detail the charm of the spring in Ji’nan and discovered the beauty never met before. In the Angong Temple, which always remains obscure to visitors, students knew of a splendid story related with Qi culture, feeling the beauty of Shandong culture in a fresh dimension.

Volunteers have deepened their knowledge of LNT. LNT not only advocates to leave no trace on natural places but also focuses on reducing the noisy pollution. Listening to the natural sound and reducing the human noise, students practiced the LNT rules throughout the trip, appreciating the attractive scenery and at the same time cleaning the cigarette butts, napkins, plastic bags and other rubbish.

AHS volunteers’ performance has received the high recognition and praise from the host. At the end of this activity China LNT and Ji’nan Municipal Propaganda and Education Center for Environmental Protection endowed AHS a certificate of commendation.
