On the afternoon of March 25, the 12nd “Principal Cup” AHS Drama Festival commenced in High School Attached to Shandong Normal University. Present at the opening ceremony were Liu Congjun, AHS Deputy Principal, Liu Minghui, Director of AHS Department of Teaching and Students Affairs, Zhang Jingting, General Secretary of AHS Youth League Committee and Li Chengjin, Director of Grade 2. The ceremony was hosted by Liu Yun, Director of Grade 2 Chinese Language and Literature Research &Teaching Department.

In the opening ceremony Professor Wang Weiwei, Deputy Dean of Department of Drama, Television and Literature, School of Journalism and Media, Shandong normal University and also a member of Shandong Dramatist Association, delivered a speech named “On the Spirit of Drama in Campus Drama Activities”, in which he started his talk from the origin of drama and its characteristics and in view of the current situation of campus drama activities and through his interpretation of some famous dramas like Dou E Yuan, The Golden Cangue, Jiang Gong's Face and King Lear concluded that dramas should manifest “the study on humanity” as well as the spirit of literature. The lecture given by Wang embodied not only the theoretical depth but the taste of reality, well instructing AHS students to have access to the professional knowledge concerning film, television and drama creation and enabling them to deeply grasp the drama spirit.

From March 26 all together 33 dramas will be staged respectively on the two campuses.

AHS “Principal Cup” Drama Festival, starting in 2005, has gone through the development of more than 10 years, growing from the in-class drama show organized by AHS Chinese Language and Literature Research & Teaching Department to be a cultural brand of AHS enjoying high reputation as well as a special model of moral education well displaying the AHS educational philosophy of “putting students first and achieving their comprehensive development”. In 2017 AHS “Principal Cup” Drama Festival was designated as Jinan Moral Education Brand (the 1st session) and the research subject “Study on AHS “Principal Cup” Drama Festival as a Moral Education Course” was endowed with the 1st prize of 2018 Shandong Basic Education Educational and Teaching Outcome Awards.
