In view of further arousing the awareness of “putting safety the first”, strengthening the consciousness of safety, improve the capacity of emergency rescue as well as self-aid and self-protection and lowering the damage from emergencies and disasters, High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) held a fire drill in its downtown campus on December 4. The fire drill was directed by Liu Minghui, Director of AHS Department of Teaching and Moral Education Affairs and all teachers and students attended it.

At 4:00 p.m. Xu Shouyu, a police officer from Lixia Fire Prevention Station, Ji’nan presented a safety lesson, which provided practical instructions for teachers and students to escape in face of emergencies with abundant vivid examples. At 4:50 p.m. Liu Minghui broadcast the order to carry out urgent evacuation and then more than 1,500 students rushed out from exits of teaching buildings through thick smoke and assembled as scheduled in the designated spot. Intensely but in fair order, all the classes dressed the ranks and reported the number of arrivers, all costing 3 minutes and 15 seconds within the planned time limit. Liu Congjun, Vice Principal of AHS, addressed a speech, pointing out that the campus safety is related with the social stability as well as the happiness of each family and in view of guaranteeing the campus safety the fire drill was organized under the principle of “putting people first and giving priority to students” to protect students’ life to the maximum extent. He added the school should all the time set up the awareness of emergency management, strengthen the safety education, carry out regular fire drills and upgrade the escape capacity of teachers and students.
