On December 17, NEPCS 2017 Final in Shandong Province was held in High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS), attracting nearly 300 students in Jinan to attend. Xu Handong from Jinan Institute for Teaching and Education Research and Ren Jiaqing, Inspector by Shandong Provincial Institute of Education Sciences, came to inspect the competition, accompanied by Liu Minghui and Wang Bin, Director of AHS Department of Teaching and Students’ Affairs, and Wang Chonghao, Director of AHS English Language Teaching Department.

National English Proficiency Competition for Secondary School Students (NEPCS) is the largest English competition nationwide, one of the reward systems for national elementary education for foreign languages and also a comprehensive English language capacity competition intended for high school students nationwide. Since 1991, 27 NEPCS sessions have been organized. A considerable number of key universities have so far recognized NEPCS outcome as one of the receivable conditions for independent recruitment.

As the host of NEPEC 2017 in Shandong Province, AHS made considerate preparations and arrangements in competition rooms, broadcasting equipment and invigilators and received the due acknowledgement from the superior department as well as other schools.

AHS has always been attaching importance to cultivating students’ comprehensive ability in English. Based on English Language Association, English song contests, English speech contests, English poem reciting contests, English opera contests, English corners and many other activities have been organized in view of arousing students’ interest in English language and nurturing their comprehensive English ability and those activities turns out to be quite effective. AHS students have made great achievements in NECPS and won prizes in successive years.
