From March 14 to 15 the 11^thAHS “Principal Cup” Drama Festival Show commenced respectively in the downtown schoolyard and Xingfuliu schoolyard of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS). Dr. Liu Lisen from Beijing University was invited to High School Attached to Shandong Normal University and delivered a speech named “The Birth of a Play”. Present at the speech hosted respectively by Zhang Jingting and Hu Zhaoqiang in the two schoolyards were Liu Congjun, Vice Principal of AHS, head teachers of Grade 2 classes, Chinese language teachers and over 700 students.

Starting from the origin of drama as an art form and its development, Dr. Liu led students into a magic drama world, elaborating in detail the choice of the scenario, the basic requirements of drama creation and performance and other contents like the design of specified situations in drama creation, the types of stage communications, the construction of drama conflicts, the principles of stage blocking, the approaches of interpreting drama themes and the system of performance arts. Dr. Liu even presented an on-site performance by reciting some actor’s lines fromBeijingersby Caoyu, triggering enthusiastic applause from the audience. Dr. Liu’s speech provided a valuable opportunity for AHS students to come into contact with professional knowledge of drama creation and performance and thus broaden their horizons and presented professional instructions for students to prepare their ongoing rehearsals of “Principal Cup” Drama Festival show. Zhou Fengyan and Wang Bin, Director of Grade 2 Chinese Language Teaching Department respectively in the two schoolyards expressed their highest evaluation on Dr. Liu’s speech and they hoped students in Grade 2 to make full preparations for their drama display with the help of their teachers.

Starting originally as a class presentation adapted from those drama texts in students’ textbooks, AHS Drama Festival has developed to be a school-based course with AHS characteristics hosted by a combination of AHS Chinese Language Teaching Department, AHS Teaching and Students’ Affairs Department, AHS Young League Committee and AHS Sports, Arts and Hygiene Department. In July, 2017 AHS “Principal Cup” Drama Festival was designated as one of the Top Three Moral Education Brand and was promoted to spread in Jinan by Education Bureau of Jinan.It was reported that the 11^th“Principal Cup” Drama Festival would be on display in the 6^thweek.
