On January 30 the 4^thSession of the 5^thCongress of Teachers and Workers of High School Attached toShandongNormalUniversitycommenced in the lecture hall of the downtown schoolyard of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS). Chen Dehai, AHS Vice Principal, hosted the opening ceremony.

Tan Yinghai, General Secretary of AHS CPC Committee, addressed the opening speech. In his speech Tan pointed out that AHS has made considerable achievements in various aspects in 2015 and breakthroughs have been made in some areas; the construction of spiritual civilization has greatly helped upgrade the school’s reputation, the advancement of teaching and moral education quality has highly increased the satisfaction from parents and society, the personalized education has earned the trust of our society, and the improvement of teaching facilities and conditions has greatly strengthened the school’s competitiveness. However, in the meantime of summing up our achievements we should clearly keep in mind the difficulties, pressure and challenges we will face in further development, added Tan. He hoped this conference could play a role of extracting experience, pooling the wisdom of the staff to make breakthroughs in solving those present problems and pulling people together to design the school’s reform and development.

AHS Principal Wang Yuzhang gave the Report on AHS School Affairs and the AHS Financial Report. He made a summary of 2015 school affairs and 2015 AHS financial management and introduced the design of 2016 school work and main tasks. As he pointed out, in 2015 the school’s cultural construction has been deepened, its educational quality has been widely praised, new progress has been made in teachers’ development, the work of strengthening our party building and ideological education has been further enhanced and the school’s management, its service-providing function and the security work have become more effective. Meanwhile, Wang analyzed in a quite subjective way those difficulties and challenges the school are now facing. When it comes to the school’s programs in 2016, Wang Yuzhang, centering on the school’s objective of “building a quality high school with characteristics of college education that ranks among the best in Shandong Province and the first-class in China”, arranged 26 high-priority programs in four aspects of “cultivating a school culture with characteristics of college education”, “educating students with AHS temperament”, “breeding teachers with qualities of educational masters” and “forging a high school brand with its high quality and elegance”.

After those reports teacher delegates in groups discussed and deliberated them, enthusiastically expressing their views and suggestions. Then the congress presidium sorted out the delegates’ views and suggestions and finally formed a draft resolution waiting to be decided in the congress.

In the afternoon the presidium held the 2^ndconference of all presidium members hosted by Tan Yinghai, Chairman of the congress presidium, passing through voting the related resolutions. Tan pointed out that the year 2016 turned out to be the opening year of the national 13^thfive-year plan as well as a crucial year for carrying forward the reform and development of High School Attached toShandongNormalUniversity. He hoped all delegates together with all the other teachers and workers to conscientiously carry out the school’s programs, take the courage to bear responsibilities, to make innovations and to deepen our reform, continuously advance our internal development and create a new situation in various areas of our work.
