Li Donglin giving flute performance in the competition

The wind instrument competition of the Ninth Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music was held in Qingdao on August 3^rd. Over 120 participants from all over the country took part in the competition. During the 6-day competition, the quarter-final, the semi-final and the final competition of flute were held. Li Donglin, a student of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) and also a member of AHS Symphony Orchestra, participated in the competition on behalf of China Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (CASBE) and ranked the 13^th, winning the award for excellent performance. Sun Ke, a music teacher of AHS, was awarded “Excellent Director”.

During those days, the leading official of China Musician Association and the authoritative experts in the wind music world of China were present at the the competition. The total number of the participants and the audience is nearly 10,000. As the youngest participant of this competition, Li Donglin gained the judges’ high praise with his excellent skills and artistic accomplishment and won great honor for AHS.

This competition is hosted by China Federation of Literary and Art Articles, CMA and Qingdao Municipal Government and undertaken by CASBE and Qingdao Federation of Literary and Art Articles. It aims to select excellent clarinet and flute performers, promoting the development of clarinet and flute art in our country and the growth of those performers. Chinese Golden Bell Award, also called “Big Golden Bell”, is the highest professional award in the music world of China, a national art award which rubs shoulders withGolden Rooster Awards forFilms,Plum Performance Award and Lotus Awards for Dance. This award includes works award, performance award, theory critics award and lifetime achievement award and the award fororchestral instruments performance belongs tothe performance award.

AHS Symphony Orchestra is a national famous high school symphony orchestra and has won the first place for dozens of times in both domestic and international performances and competitions.
