On Jan. 20^th, Taishan College of Shandong University announced the admission list of 2015 high school students’ talent programme. There are totally 26 high school students on the list in the whole province, of whom 9 are from High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) .

Based on students’ interest, their learning ability, the comprehensive quality, the academic records and their parents’ support, after several rounds of selection, AHS recommended 18 Grade-One students to join in the selection of high school students’ talent programme organized by Shandong University. After the interview, the judges and experts thought the students recommended by AHS possessed excellent learning ability, active mind and unique ideas, willing to work on fundamental science research. Finally, 9 of these 18 were selected into the list. Those selected students, under the guidance of the experts of Shandong University, will attend regular communications, science lectures, tutors’ research group discussions and scientific research activities in order to develop their interest and innovation spirit.

High school students’ talent programme aims to develop excellent students’ interest in the study of fundamental subjects, arouse their enthusiasm about the subjects and raise their scientific research ability. This programme is organized by China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and supported by Ministry of Education of China in order to cultivate outstanding talents in scientific innovation for the country. AHS is one of the experimental schools of this programme in Shandong province, which is carried out by Taishan College of Shandong University and Youth Center of Shandong Association for Science and Technology. In this programme, students, together with famous scientists, will do scientific research and academic discussion and experience scientific research. They can choose one subject from math, physics, chemistry, biology and information technology as their major and Shandong University will recommend a professor for each of them as their tutor to help them study and do research. It will last one year and all the expenses relative to their study are offered by CAST.
