“Appreciate the Tide across the Straits”, the 3rd National High School Campus Poem Competition ended at No. 1 High School of Fuzhou, full of sweet-scented osmanthus's fragrance after three days’ competition. WangBin, a Chinese teacher of AHS, together with two students of AHS, Liang Danni and Gao Yilong, participated in the competition, sharing their sentiments and artistry of poetry with teachers and students from 39 other key High schools, and showing graceful bearing of teachers and students of AHS.

Held by High School Education Institute of East China Normal University, The Chinese Education Research Center and Theory of Culture Center of China Education, the competition was undertaken by Fuzhou No. 1 High School. Liang Danni, a student from Class 15 of year 2012 of AHS, recited affectionately her poem and received burst of applause from the participating experts, teachers and students. Haixia, a member of CPPCC, an anchor of CCTV Broadcast and Television News, presented her excellent professional reviews and recitation display.

Besides, Mr. Zheng Chouyu, a well-known poet and writer of famous poemMistakes, was also invited, and Mr. Sun Shao Zhen, a well-known writer and critic, to present two wonderful lectures on modern poetry writing and classical poetry appreciation. At the age of about 80 and with silver hair, the two senior experts discoursed knowledgeably on poetry and appealed the audience artistically with profound poetry sentiment. The present audience were deeply infiltrated in beauty interweaved by poetry and thoughts.

Mr. Yuanzhao, headmaster of Suzhou No. 10 High School, expressed his concerns and reflection on utilitarian of society and high school teaching, blaming present situation of deserting the essence of poem for short-term interests. He put forward tough questions to render current complex situation of high school campus poetry and campus culture, calling for the return to the essence of poetry. His speech was full of brilliance and passion.

After the lecture, the teacher and students of AHS exchanged their views with experts on poem creation, poem appreciation and the plight and solution to the current campus poetry, and harvested immensely.

AHS has been concentrating on the inspiration of the poetry teaching to spirit the temperament of students through various forms like poetry festival and other activities to expand way of thinking and promote cultural sentiment of education and students' humanities character.
