High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) was awarded “Advanced Unit for 2012 Educational Work”

In the year of 2012, under the correct leadership and support of the Party committee of a higher level and the competent education department, and under the guidance of the new school leading body, AHS conscientiously carried out the Party’s education policy. The direction of its work is institutional improvement and the construction of unique school culture and the cut-in point is the school’s 15 major tasks. AHS sticks to its working policy that the school will inherit the tradition, innovate the work, strengthen its own quality and create a new image to society, continuously deepens educational reform, reinforces school management and spares no effort to build a new image that AHS owns the characteristics of a secondary school with the characteristics of the university. In the past year, AHS made a lot of new achievements:

Most of the 15 major tasks have been completed. 10 high points of the school work are well received by people inside and outside the school. In the year of 2012, AHS won 16 titles, such as “Model School of Scientific Inquiry Study and Creative Talents Training” presented by Basic Education Curriculum and Textbook Development Center of Education Ministry , “National Demonstration Base of Youth English Reading and Writing”, “National Model School for the Teaching Chinese Writing” and Provincial Model School of Popular Science”. By building a school with the culture of a university education style, Fuzhong Forum develops quickly. In 2012, with a total of 26 experts and professors as well as 298 students gave lectures and academic reports. AHS is the first high school in Ji’nan to set up tutorial system, to start the activity that teachers volunteer to give aid to students and has founded a parent school. Its online video courses are available for free for students both inside and outside the school and so are bridge textbooks for the fresh of AHS. All that has been done is highly concerned with by the society.

The teaching staff of AHS achieved a lot last year. 253 teachers won prizes in all kinds of national, provincial and municipal competitions. 12 teachers were appointed as supervisors of postgraduate. 8 teachers were selected as members of provincial team of experts and 26 teachers academic leaders and members of academic central group. 60 teachers published totally 72 teaching and research articles in core journals ofChina. Students also gained many awards. 105 students won prizes above the provincial level. The basketball team, the football team and the track and field team of AHS won 19 prizes in national, provincial or municipal matches. AHS Symphony Orchestra was presented the award The Best Performance in the Third Vienna Goldener Saal Wiener Musikvereins Summer Concert. An English poem written by an AHS student was carved on the monument and everlastingly preserved in Martin Luther King National Historic Landmark in theUSA. 8 students were invited to attend China World Youth Forum. The official website of AHS was honored as both Provincial and Municipal Excellent Educational Website. Official microblogs developed quickly and received praise from Shandong Education Department. AHS Party Committee and Grade 3 Party Branch were honored as Advanced Grass-rooted Party Organizations and 26 students joined CCP.

It is reported that this is the second time that AHS has received this award, which shows the approval and encouragement from education authorities of higher level and the whole society.
