Liu Congjun, Vice Headmaster of AHS, and Lin Yuxuan

On the afternoon of April 10, Lin Yuxuan, a graduate of the Year 2008, paid a visit to AHS, his alma mater where he studied for three years. Liu Congjun, Vice Headmaster of AHS, and Yang Ping, Vice Director of Administrative Office and Head Teacher of the former class where Lin Yuxuan studied, respectively held a talk with him. Besides, Lin Yuxuan came to Class 16, Grade 2 and shared with students his life in AHS and university.

In 2008 Lin Yuxuan was successfully recommended for admission intoInstituteofMicroelectronics,TsinghuaUniversity, majoring in Microelectronics, and in April, 2012, recruited into Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, MIT, where he would pursue a doctor’s degree under full scholarship. Over 20 students of Class 1 of Grade 2005 including Lin Yuxuan have passed the needed examinations and been admitted into American colleges or universities. “It is a fortune for me to receive such a fine education in AHS and have been recommended intoTsinghuaUniversity. Here best qualified teachers and favorable circumstances all benefit me throughout my life. It was in this schoolyard filled with miracles and dreams that an average youngster obtained the opportunity to realize his ideal. Therefore, I feel grateful to our alma mater for her open-mindedness to cultivate us and grant us the chance of fostering our interest to our will and exploring our potential. The AHS education is intended for all students and meanwhile adopts differentiated teaching methods in accordance with the aptitude of each individual student. Such an educational model turns out to be of great benefit to me, and it was in AHS that I cultivated abilities of learning and thinking, which have produced favorable influences on my study at university”, said Lin Yuxuan recalling his high school time.

When communicating with students in Class 16 and inquired about his former high school life by those students in admiration, Lin Yuxuan responded, “once you decide on your goal, then never find any excuse for yourself to pull out so that you can put your best foot forward. Otherwise you would stay stagnant in hesitation while others would surpass you.” When some students complained that much more pressure is put on them when it comes to realizing their dreams, Lin offered his encouragement, “in most cases we try our best to get through with every single task every day and then our dream may come true stealthily”. “Friendship is the most valuable thing I obtained in my high school life”, Lin Yuxuan replied when talking with students.

AHS is proud of such a graduate as Lin Yuxuan, whose visit gave students great encouragement and inspirations.
