Zhao Jiuyang, the winner and student of AHS

“Heng Yuanxiang Literature Star”, the 7th National Composition Competition for Chinese High School Students has successfully lowered its curtain on April 8^th. Directed by Li Guojing, teacher of AHS, Zhao Jiuyang entered the final and finally was rewarded “Nomination Award of Heng Yuanxiang Literature Star” and the first prize. Following the successive championships achieved by students from the AHS in the 5^thand 6^thCompetition, the student from AHS achieved another success in the 7^thCompetition.

164 participants from the Junior and Senior High Schools, including 7 from Shandong Province, were selected from 30 million students through the country and participated in the final held in Sun Yat-Sen University of Guangzhou to compete for respective 10 “Award of Heng Yuanxiang Literature Star” and 10 “Nomination Award of Heng Yuanxiang Literature Star” for the Junior and Senior level. The final took the local culture as the testing topic and VANCL style, Taobao style as addressing topic for the first time. Participants were required not only to offer their personal perspective on these new phenomena, but also to introduce themselves in VANCL style. After fierce competition of paper testing and interview, Zhao Jiuyang was rewarded “Nomination Award of Heng Yuanxiang Literature Star” and the first prize.

Xing Zijun, student of science of Senior Two from AHS, participated in the 5^thfinal held inHong Kongin 2009 and was awarded “Award of Heng Yuanxiang Literature Star” and “Award of the Best Comprehensive Quality”. Yu Guangzhong, the famous poet, presented the prize personally for her. Representing all participants, she also addressed the Awarding Ceremony, which was reported by such media as CCTV. Li Decai, Grade Three science student of AHS, participated in the 6^thfinal held in Nanjing in 2010 and was also awarded “Award of Heng Yuanxiang Literature Star” and No. 1 of the first prize, together with Houmeng and Linzhu, Grade one students, who were rewarded “Nomination Award of Heng Yuanxiang Literature Star” and the first prize respectively. All the successes achieved by students of AHS in the three competitions have fully reflected AHS’s educational philosophy of “people-oriented, all-round development”.

The AHS endeavors its principle that the essence of education is humanity, rather than talents and ability. The education is supposed to be the inspiration of soul, the awakening of thinking and the fulfillment of sentiment. The aim of education is the cultivation of talents with comprehensive development. Therefore, education in AHS attaches importance not only to the cultivation of scientific spirits, but also to the guidance of traditional culture comprehension. It keeps pace with the excellent achievements of modern science and technology, and also achieved a lot in such competitions as Subjects Competitions, Informatics Competition, Robots Competition, and Scientific Innovation Competition. It persists the pursue of cultural spirits and pays close attention to development of modern society with sense of responsibility and commitment, which results in the excellence in the Composition Competition, the championship of Debating Competition, and detailed Southern Weekend reporting of history written by student from AHS.

It’s reported that “Heng Yuanxiang Literature Star”, the National Composition Competition for Chinese High School Students, is one of the most influential composition competitions inChina, which is also the largest in the educational field of High School and the highest in standard. It is co-sponsored by Office of All-China Students Federation, Children's Literature Committee of the Chinese Writers Association, Public Culture Center of China National Committee for the Wellbeing of the Youth, and National Association of Professional Committee of High School Newspaper and Magazines. It is undertaken by more than 80 high school newspapers and magazines. It inspects the comprehensive quality of participants from the perspective of listening, speaking, reading and writing, which is a national public welfare competition supported by more than 20 famous universities such as People’s University of China, Fudan University, Nanjing University, and Hong Kong University.
