On September 1, the first day of the new term, with the majestic national anthem resounding through the schoolyard and the bright five-star red flag rising to the morning breeze, over 5,000 students and all the teachers attended the first flag-rising ceremony of the new term.

Headmaster Wang Yuzhang and Party Secretary Tan Yinghai respectively made a speech in the two schoolyards. They mentioned that in the past year under the leadership of the party commission of all levels and administrative departments of education, we implemented the educational concept of “putting students first and achieving students’ comprehensive development” and had made glorious accomplishments in all aspects due to the efforts shed by all teachers and staff and the unyielding initiative of students.

First, abiding by the arrangement of the Party Committee of Shandong Normal University, the school has finished the school-level leadership transfer and then adjusted the school’s middle-level cadre group, thus forming the new leading team of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University.

Second, the school’s overall strength has been further recognized in society. Last year the school passed through the assessment on the implementation of high schools’ new curriculum organized by Shandong Institute of Education and the evaluation on the Standardized School in Shandong Province. In the evaluation on nationwide high schools held in June, High School Attached to Shandong Normal University ranks among the “top 100” for the 4th consecutive time. Vice Headmaster Wang Yuzhang was invited as a representative of outstanding reserving student schools to attend the 2011 graduation ceremony of Beijing University.

Third, quality education yields among grade-three graduates. The year 2011 witnesses the great achievement of the school in the National College Entrance Examination, to the satisfaction of students, their parents and the society. Among 2011 graduates 35students have been recommended for admission into key universities, of whom five have been admitted into Tsinghua University and Bejing University. 25 League members of 2011 graduates have been recruited as probationary members into CPC.

Fourth, new accomplishment has been made in subject contests. In the 28th “Inspur Cup” National Olympiad in Informatics in Provinces (NOIP) held this summer, Wang Chengrui and Xie Zheng, the students from High School Attached to Shandong Normal University representing Shandong Province, have made great success, respectively attaining one gold and one bronze. The gold was the only one harvested by Shandong team this time. In the 12th National Primary & Middle Schools Computer Production Activities and Robot Contest, representing Shandong Province in five programs, the students from High School Attached to Shandong Normal University attained 1 first prize (ranking the 1st) and 2 second prizes, among whom 5 students ranks the 5th and 3 students have been qualified for the admission into key universities. In the meantime, High School Attached to Shandong Normal University has been recognized as one of the 14 trial schools for young innovative personnel training.

Fifth, the school’s art and sport education as our traditional advantage gains more strength. In the last academic term, the school successfully held the chorus festival and the concert for celebrating the 90th anniversary of the founding of CPC, winning tremendous praise from society.

Sixth, more models stand out in excelling their performances. Last term 3 classes were named Jinan’s Advanced Class Collective. The school’s NO. 1 Branch Committee was endowed the praise of Advanced Party Branch Committee of Shandong Normal University. 5 teachers were appraised as advanced CPC members of Shandong Normal University. Of all the head teachers, 3 were honored as Jinan’s Prominent Head Teacher and 30 as school-level prominent head teachers.

Blueprint drawn, it is time for us to set sail; task borne, do dash ourselves with a horse-whip. Headmaster Wang and Party Secretary Tan pointed that the glorious achievements were well worth our cheering, but in the new academic year we must meet more pressure and challenges. Under the leadership of the newly-elected leading group, the school should exert itself from the very beginning, meet unexpected challenges, make new achievements, and accomplish fresh progress. In this academic year, the school’s work principle is to “strengthen internal quality and build external image” and our goal is to build a school with “a richer culture, a more qualified teacher team, more scientific management, more convenient conditions, better teaching quality, more outstanding characteristics and more distinctive advantages.” On the road to pursue to be the best school, we will stride on the new step and achieve the new high. The year 2011 is the first year of implementing the national 12th Five-Year Plan, the year of deepening our reform, practicing scientific development and promoting harmony and also the year of nurturing hope, exerting ourselves and making advancement. Wish our students to keep on carrying forward our school’s spirit, actively make progress, follow laws and school regulations and make efforts to improve self-quality; wish teachers to put reasonable pressure on themselves, carry out self-improvement, practice innovation in thoughts and approaches of teaching and education, and nurture brilliant students and grow to be a well-known teacher. Thus our work may meet students’ demand, satisfy their parents, and win the recognition from society. By absorbing ourselves in hard work, being fully devoted, practicing probity and self-discipline, and doing solid work, we will surely create a new situation for the School’s educational undertaking.
