Our school is selected as experimental school by China Association for Science and Technology Innovation Talent Youth Training Project

On the morning of June 16，China Association for Science and Innovation youth training project: Scientific and Educational Cooperation for Talented High School Science and Technology Innovation (2011--2015) started in Beijing China Science and Technology Hall. Vice Principle Wang Yuzhang attended the meeting and addressed the General Assembly. China Association for Science selected 14 schools from all over the country, well-known and influential, where the student activities in science and technology innovation are outstanding. These schools will take part in the research into the project. Only two schools were selected in our province, including our school and The Number Two Middle School of Qingdao.

Our school technological innovation coach Xue Maochang attended the launch. The conference was hosted by Jiang Jingyi, director of China Association for Science and Technology Center. Li Xiaoliang, director of Youth Science and Technology Center ,attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Li Xiaoliang stressed the importance and the urgency of Science and Innovation youth training, that young people will take advantage of the center of science and technology activities, educational resources and school resources. He also urged the schools to cooperate with East China Normal University and Experimental School and try to bring these resources to become curriculum resources of a high school education and the high-level professional development resources for excellent teachers. He expects that the experimental schools can reform and innovate to raise the teachers’ overall ability, to explore contemporary society for the comprehensive development of the students through the new training mode and play a model leading role in teenagers innovation talent training. The executive group leader of the project team, Professor HuoYiping from the Department of Education of East China Normal University introduced to the participants the project plan and showed the differences and gap of the innovative talent training at home and abroad, She also put forward the assumption of the 5- year work on the project, contents and targets. The project will continue to regard "science and technology cooperation" as the breakthrough point, trying to strengthen the relationship of ordinary high school, higher schools with research institutions to share outside resources and courses, and build the social cooperative and supportive mode combination between colleges and high schools, full-time and vocational education. In addition, through international forum it will broaden the academic horizon of high school principals and faculty and transform the ideas of student training as well as raise the level of specialization of faculty via various modes. The opening ceremony set the main tasks after the project, that is, the biennial “cultivation ofinnovation talents of science and technologyin senior highs” which will be held in Shanghai at the end of this year and will carry out a series of discussions about various subjects. The project mainly aims at exploring the cultivation of top innovation talents and advancing diversified development of senior high schools which will be performed by Science and Education Cooperation Research Center associated by CAST adolescent science and technology center with East China University. With the combination between science and education circles and international cooperation, cultivation ideas of innovation talents will be transformed and the specialization level of faculty will be lifted. The resourceful courses on science and technology education from different parties will be integrated as well. The implement circle of the project is five years.

Over the years, our school has been insisting on the cultivation of the students' innovation consciousness and ability, and the school actively carried out relevant activities. Students science and technology innovation contest, the computer-design activities, robot competition as well as patent application, which has become our characteristic activities. In all kinds of science and technology innovation contests，our school always takes the lead in our province and even the whole country. The number of awards is the largest in the city as well as the province. All of the above has become an advantageous part since the practice of quality education in our school. From 2003 to 2010, our school participated in the international science and technology competitions several times, and won the first prize in the China Adolescent Science and Technology Contest for seven consecutive years with a total of 15 gold medals and nine silvers, as well as six bronzes, and 24 students have been recommended for admission to elite colleges like Peking University, Renmin University of China, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University and more than 200 students obtains autonomous enrollment qualifications. In May, 2005, Su Wangyang, Han Zhenfeng and Gao Yimo from our school attended the 56th Intel ISEF held in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, and achieved great results. It was the first time for the high school students in Shandong province to attend the international science and technology summit events . Pan Liqun won the "Best International Project Award" for international adolescent technological competition in Demark, and was met by the Danish prince. In 2008 Li Zhaoqian, vice governor of Shandong Province, met and took pictures with the students attending the 23rd China Adolescent Science and Technology Contest held in Urumqi. In the spring of 2008, a report on adolescent fitness games was recognized by Huang Sheng, vice governor of Shandong Province, who instructed that we should apply it to mission of national fitness, quality education and enhancement their physical fitness.
