To arouse students’ interest in learning biology, cultivate their creative thinking and enhance their practical operating ability, Grade 2015 of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) held a Biological Model Making activity at Xing Fuliu campus.

Under the guidance of biological teachers, students in groups finished making their cellular structure model in their spare time. The model display and some exchange activities were held afterwards. During this activity, students with their initiative and enthusiasm have produced a variety of cellular structure models, which fully demonstrated their ingenuity. Some students drew the cellular structure diagram based on what they have learned in class. Some made vivid three-dimensional cell models by using daily things, such as plastics, jelly and so on. And some students made full use of their advantages, making a 3D animation of the cell structure by using computer. During the exchange activities, students said they benefited a lot from this activity.

Teachers from the Department of Biology in AHS have always paid much attention to the stimulation of students’ learning interest and the cultivation of their biologic science literacy in their teaching. This activity has successfully built a platform for students’ self-presentation, which not only improved their learning enthusiasm but also promoted their cooperation and communication and further showed the excellent performance of AHS students.
