On October 24, a lecture on network safety entitled “An Insight into Network” was given to the students of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS). Hosted by XU Shishui, Vice Director of AHS Department of Students’ Affairs, the lecture was addressed by Shen Zhongkai, Squadron Commander of Licheng Bureau of Public Safety.

As an introduction, Shen first quoted the case of Xu Yuyu, a girl in Linyin, Shandong Province who leaked her information when applying for universities online, then was cheated out of all her tuition and lost her life after a faint due to the excessive grief. Then Shen analyzed in detail kinds of online fraud. In combination with those specific cases, Shen mainly introduced the measures supposed to be taken by students in face of online fraud. At the end of the lecture Shen patiently responded to students’ questions and puzzles on online safety.

Following Shen’s lecture, Xu attached special importance to students’ safety in view of the safety problems that happened recently and further called on students to always put safety first and forge a sharp insight to distinguish between truth and falsehood in face of what appeared online.
