National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) training forum

National Speechand Debate Association (NSDA) training forum was held in the hall of AHS. All the students of Grade 1 of International Department attended the forum, with two headteachers and some parents accompanying.

First of all, Ding Peiran from the NSDA Shanghai headquarters introduced the organization forms and related rules of the open-forum debate. The open-forum debate takes the competition regulations of NSDA as reference, which asks debaters to have in-depth study to the connotation and denotation of the debate, paying attention to not only the logic analysis ability, but also the speech eloquence and feeling of the audience. On the other hand, the Academic Debate League provides long-term, systematic opportunities of competition and scoring system to train debating competence through participating various competitions.

Two debaters will form a team to participate in several rounds of competitions to get the permission to the knockout stage, while the winners of the two rounds of knockout competition (according to the score) will enter the final. Then he invited international students to perform debate demonstration activities, enabling students to truly understand and feel the wonderful American debate. Finally, Mr. Matthew, Regional Director from NSDA Shanghai Headquarter, guided students to carry on the analysis and logical thinking exercises of debate on the basis of the debate issue ofanimal testing.

National Speech and Debate Association is the most historical and largest speech and debate organization for high school students in the US, and is also the world's professional speech and debate coach membership organizations. With extensive credibility in American society and universities, NSDA has been widely carried out in first tier cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and has received a high-degree recognition. It is the first time for NSDA to host activities in Shandong Province in order to provide professional English speech and debate platform for students having interested in English learning.
