The 5th “Spring City Volunteer” Selection and Recognition Ceremony was held in Spring City Square, Ji’nan and Zhou Ziyi, a student of the International Department of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS), was endowed the title of “Spring City Volunteer”.

Zhou Ziyi participated in voluntary work as early as she was 10 years old under the introduction of her parents. Over 5 years she will attend annually Gushan Tree-Planting and School-Supporting activities, donating books, clothes and stationary to students in need in Tai’an, Shandong Province. In August, 2013 she took part in “Spring Festival Logo on Cars”. In addition she joined twice in “Yellow River-Mount Tai 100-Kilometer Walk” for school support and always went to Pingyin Nursing Home to visit solitary elders, expressing her regards to veteran revolutionary soldiers and presenting demonstrations to those elders. By doing volunteer work Zhou Ziyi not only exercises herself, raises the awareness of environmental protection and nurtures a habit of keeping diligent and thrifty, but also helps herself realize the necessity of keeping a heart of sacrifice to our society

On August 4, 2005 Ji’nan Times in collaboration with Ji’nan Civilization Office and Ji’nan Youth League Committee issued a proposal to sponsor “Spring City Volunteers in Action” and activated it on August 21. Under the instruction of its principle of “doing my best, displaying my talents, employing all my enthusiasm and making contributions to society”, “Spring City Volunteer ” has continuously been engaging itself into innovating the contents and forms of activities. The liaison center of Ji’nan Times “Spring City Volunteer” has been granted the title of “Top Ten Chinese Youth Volunteer Service”. In December, 2011, “Spring City Volunteer” was recognized by Central Civilization Office “Top Ten National Volunteer Service Group”. Quite a number of AHS students have joined in “Spring City Volunteer” and now with their ardent sacrifice volunteers are well displaying a charming harmony of the spring city.
