Students of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS), following Li Xuemei and Zhang Ping, English teachers of AHS, took part in the Third National Youth English Reading and Writing Competition held inBeijingfrom July 21^stto 25^th. After competing, Zhang Tianyu, students of 2010 of AHS, won the first prize of the Golden Award and was entitled the top award of the competition “Young Translator”. Ge Qingshang and other 5 students won the Silver award and Wei Haolin and other 6 students the Bronze Award. AHS was entitled “National Demonstration Base of Youth English Reading and Writing”. The two teachers received the award of National Excellent Counseling teachers of English Reading and Writing and Zhang Ping was invited to make a speech at the awarding ceremony.

National Youth English Reading and Writing Competition is a national competition started and hosted by Translators Association ofChina, the Chinese Institute of Prose and the Youth Center of China Association Oriental Culture Studies (CAOCS). The aim of the competition is to pass on Chinese civilization, promote culture communication, improve students’ English reading and writing skills, making them fond of translation career and reserving talents forChina’s translation industry.

It is also known that the works of 8 English teachers of AHS won Golden Award of teachers group in the competition. They are Feng Wenhui, Gu Yanbing, Li Xuemei, Han Wen, Sun Liping, Yang Mei and Yang Yang.
