On October 17 and 19, High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) held the 17^thCongress of AHS Students respectively in its downtown schoolyard and Xingfulu schoolyard. Present at the congress were Wang Yuzhang, AHS Principal, Tan Yinghai, General Secretary of AHS CPC Committee and Vice Principal of AHS, Chen Dehai and Zhang Xianchen, Vice Principal of AHS, anddirectors of AHS departments. All together about 400 student delegates, who were elected through the verification by AHS Representative Qualification Committee in accordance with AHS Election Law of Students’Congress, attended the congress.

The congress started with the solemn section of singing the national anthem, following which Zhang Jingting and Hu Zhaoqiang, two Vice General Secretary of AHS Youth League Committee, addressed the speech titledShoulder the Mission of the Times and Promote the Work on Students’ Affairsrespectively in the two schoolyards. Then the two presidents of Students’ union in the two schoolyards presented the Students’ union Work Report (2016-2017), making a summary on the work of the last session Students’ union , reflecting on those defects of their work and putting forward suggestions for the newly elected Students’ union .

A democratic election was conducted to form a new session ofStudents’ union . After the preparations made since the last term and through the self-recommendation, recommendation by AHS Youth League organizations and the comprehensive verification of AHS Youth League Committee, 20 candidates in AHS downtown schoolyard and 30 candidates in Xingfuliu schoolyard were eventually confirmed as the formal candidates for 2017 Students’ union . And the final list was recognized and a new session of Students’ union was formed via voting under the principle of democratic centralism.

A representative on behalf of the newly elected Students’ union addressed a speech, swearing that all the members of Students’ union should follow the faith as well as the belief consistent with the times and keep brave in shouldering the responsibility endowed by this times. The Students’ union have confidence as well as the ability to fulfil the tasks assigned from the school and make due contributions to building up a“Charming and Harmonious AHS”.

Wang Yuzhang and Zhang Xianchen made a closing speech respectively in the two schoolyards, pointing that AHS has always been fertile soil providing each student a wide platform to grow and develop and each AHS student should treasure their time, show their affection to the school and endeavor to make new harvest with days going on. They hope all Students’ union members should support the leadership of CPC, dare to make endeavors and innovations in their work and study, strengthen their learning in view of upgrading their comprehensive qualities and forge themselves to be a reliable organization worth the trust from students.

Through the joint efforts of all delegates the congress turned out to be a great success. The newly elected Students’union members shall accordingly carry out their duty under the leadership of AHS CPC Committee and AHS Youth League Committee and make their due and greater contributions to upgrading the work on students’ affairs.
