On January 7 Shandong Youth & Children Science & Technology Center issued the list of students admitted into 2018National Program for the Excellence of Middle School Students, among whom 15 students come from High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS), the highest number in the history of the school.

The program was initiated inOctober, 2017 and 35 middle school students in Shandong Province stood out and were admitted into the program after going through procedures of the initial school-level recommendation, the provincial primary selection, the university verification and the interview given by professors. 15 AHS students entered the list, ranking the 1^stamong middle schools in Shandong Province.

National Program for the Excellence of Middle School Studentsis a trial program of “the Plan for Middle School Science and Technology Innovative Talent Reserve and Cultivation”, also functioning as a platform for AHS to cultivate top innovative talents in combination with universities and colleges. The program was initiated in 2013 by China Association for Science and Technology and Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China and takes on the interest-oriented as well as program-oriented model of education. In accordance with the policies for independent recruitment of key universities and colleges in 2017, universities like University of Science and Technology of China, Northeastern University, Shandong University and Nanjing Normal University have recognized National Program for the Excellence of Middle School Students as a qualification in the primary examination for their independent recruitment.

Up to now all together 40 AHS students have been admitted into and graduated from the program, a number ranking the 1^stamong those middle schools in Shandong Province.
