At 3:30 pm, April 9, the Fifth “Principal Cup” Drama Festival Show and Award Ceremony was held in Lishan Theater, attended by Shan Zhixiao, General Secretary of CPC Committee of Shandong Normal University, Zhang Wensi, Vice Principal of Shandong Normal University, Yin Meiqin, Vice Director of Elementary Education Department and General Secretary of Youth League Committee of Bureau of Education of Jinan City Government, Wang Bin, Head of Art Research Institute of Shandong University of Arts, Mao Lixin, Vice Headmaster of No.2 Middle School Attached to Shandong Normal University, Xing Qingfu, Vice Headmaster of Jinan Shungeng Middle School, Chen Huaizhi, Vice Headmaster of Jinan No. 5 Middle School, and other distinguished guests. In addition, leaders of AHS, Wang Yuzhang, Tan Yinghai, Chen Dehai, Liu Congjun, heads of school’s departments, some parents of students in AHS, and teachers and students of AHS’s downtown schoolyard watched the performance. Chen Dongsheng, Chief of Bureau of Education of Jinan City Government, arrived during the performance and expressed his congratulations.

The show consisted of two parts: drama show and award ceremony. As a start, student actors and actresses from two schoolyards respectively staged their well-orchestrated dramaThe TeahouseandThunderstorm. From February to March, students in Grade 2 of AHS held the Fifth “Principal Cup” Drama Festival, where dramas from 30 classes were staged. The 30 drama plays were the brain-products of each class with over half of each class devoting their time, energy and efforts, of whichThe TeahouseandThunderstormare the best representatives. The drama show was a great success, well received by audience with enthusiastic applauses.

Following the drama show was the award ceremony, when awards like The Best Actor, The Best Actress, The Best Director, and The Best Drama were uncovered. Shan Zhixiao, Zhang Wenxin and other leaders respectively presented awards to winners. The Symphony Orchestra of AHS presented splendid performances of classical music for the ceremony and Deng Jing, a music teacher in AHS, sungThe Song of Yangtze River. The concert ceremony displayed a splendid auditory banquet for audience.

Drama Festival is designed as an after-class activity well fostered with a view to implementing the AHS’ educational philosophy of “putting students first and achieving their comprehensive development”. Following the principle of “subjective activities for students’ development” and centering on cultivating students’ literary attainments, AHS aims at activating circumstances, enriching students’ cultural life, displaying the demeanor of youngsters and upgrading their overall qualities, thus effectively stimulating students’ interest in Chinese study, deepening their understanding of Chinese and foreign classics and promoting the improvement of their overall qualities.
